Week Two

I received a standing ovation when I entered the Standard 3 class this week. I realize this is because I give them gifts and candy everyday, but I don’t care. It was heartwarming.

Most days we do a lesson, and then we role-play to apply what they learned. Last week, they practiced ways to resist pressure. This week they applied different alternatives to fighting. These kids could be professional actors.

Also, I choose one person to be the “photographer” for each skit, and I choose based on behavior and participation. Most pictures are of me mid-sentence or demonstrating how to take a deep breath or something crazy. I have compiled them. They’ll be posted on a day when I think we could all use a good laugh…

Thanks to my trusty old digital camera, I have perfect, participating angels every day.

Week one: we served 74 students each day of programming (222 total for the week) and ran 12 sessions of direct drug/alcohol prevention and conflict resolution

Week two: we served 74 students each day of programming (296 total for the week) and ran 15 sessions of direct drug/alcohol prevention and conflict resolution

I miss the days of sneaking you pizza. It meant we lived in the same city...
